Motu Trails

 Family fun on a wide, easy Dune Trail that rolls 10km over sand dunes to the east of Opotiki or experience adventure on backcountry historic road trail. The trails can be used year-round. Motu Trails traverses the area from Opotiki, east to Waiaua and south to Toatoa, Motu, Matawai and Pakihi. You can ride whichever parts of the trails you choose, at whatever speed appeals. If you're a family or keen for a beachside jaunt, the Dunes Trail is ideal. For a more energetic ride into spectacular backcountry farmland and forest, choose the Motu Road Trail. And for accessible adventure, head down the Pakihi Track, for 21k of downhill gradient, 25 bridges, and endless bush and river vistas.
