We’re a passionate, family-focused team

Ōhope Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park has been operating for over 40 years and run by the Smith whānau since 2021. Having previously owned holiday parks in Waihi Beach, Ian and Vicki Smith made the move to Ōhope and encouraged the rest of the family to come and enjoy what the region has to offer.

Today, the park’s General Manager is daughter Aimee, while son-in-law Cormac and son Daniel are Operational Managers. Accounts and Marketing is also run in-house, with daughter Megan at the reins. Together, they ensure the park remains a place other families can enjoy for years to come.

New Zealand’s most loved beach

Known as the seaside playground of the Eastern Bay of Plenty, it's not surprising that Ōhope Beach has been voted as New Zealand's best beach by both the AA Traveller and Green Party poll.

Located within the Whakatane district, the “Sunshine Capital of New Zealand”, we’ve been a quintessential Kiwi holiday destination for generations. With 11km of golden sand, small rolling waves and safe swimming, what's not to love!

Come and find out what the fuss is about at Ōhope Beach TOP 10.

We want to protect our environment for future generations. To do this, we:
  • Reduce water and energy usage by encouraging guests to reuse their towels and servicing rooms on demand

  • Use solar panels to heat our water in our laundry

  • Provide recycling bins for guests to utilise

  • Heat our B Block amenities with solar energy

We participate actively in our local community by:

Fantastic staff team tha's helpful and friendly. Though it was the probably a very busy season, great effort in keeping all the amenities clean and functional. The easy access to a great beach is great.

Loads of activities for the kids, clean and neat facilities in really good condition, friendly staff at the shop and at reception. The powered camping sites are decent sized and close to facilities. The kids had a blast and we got to relax. Win-win.

Door step to the lovely beach, well sized apartment, comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. We had a lovely time there. It's great even just staying at the house doing nothing and looking at the sea view.
